Happy Brexmas David Jones

How are you spending Christmas and New Year?

With my family at home, which is the best place on earth to be.

Is Brexit likely to be a topic of conversation over Christmas dinner?

Certainly not: indeed, all politics will be banned as a topic of conversation.

What is your favourite memory of the referendum campaign?

Standing in the leisure centre on Deeside in the early hours of 24th June 2016, listening to the Returning Officer announce that Wales had voted to leave the European Union.

What do you think was the most significant moment of 2017?

The service of the Article 50 notice, which irrevocably triggered the process of departure from the European Union.

Whether it be a traditional carol or a festive chart hit, what is your favourite piece of Christmas music?

I love all traditional Christmas music and attend several services of lessons and carols during the Christmas period. My present favourite is the Carol of the Bells, sung by Libera.  I remember listening to it in my car during a dreadful journey home through the snow from Cambridge three years ago. It was the only thing that lifted my spirits.

Complete the phrase: “Brexit means…

Democracy restored.

Have you any (political or personal) New Year’s resolutions?

The only resolution I make is not to make resolutions, because I invariably break them.
