Last night the House of Commons voted overwhelmingly for the Conservative amendment to the Labour motion, to call on the Government to invoke Article 50 by 31st March 2017. 461 MPs backed that position, with just 89 voting against. Only one Conservative – Ken Clarke – opposed the Government amendment, along with 23 Labour MPs, including three shadow ministers: Tulip Siddiq, Catherine West and Daniel Zeichner. Five of the nine Lib Dems (six including a teller) voted with them – including new Richmond Park MP Sarah Olney, along with the vast majority of SNP MPs, the Green and those from Plaid Cymru and the SDLP.
