Happy Brexmas Chris Grayling

How are you spending Christmas and New Year?

At home, catching up on sleep – as well as visiting one of the large number of engineering sites on the railways this Christmas as we do the biggest investment programme for decades, to equip us for the post-Brexit world.

Is Brexit likely to be a topic of conversation over Christmas dinner?

What is your favourite memory of the referendum campaign?

As a right-wing Conservative, being greeted by cheering people and hooting car horns in… Caerphilly!

What do you think was the most significant moment of 2017?

It could well be the deal on December 8th on Brexit. Or the agreement for ASLEF drivers to end their action on Southern Rail, from a transport perspective. Or perhaps just Manchester United winning the Europa League and getting back into the Champions League!

Whether it be a traditional carol or a festive chart hit, what is your favourite piece of Christmas music?

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl. There is an annual battle to get it played at home as the rest of my family hate it.

Complete the phrase: “Brexit means…

Finally taking back control. And Brexit. And that we really did it…

Have you any (political or personal) New Year’s resolutions?

The inevitable New Year diet…..
